Yes, you are quite right – it has been ages since I’ve done an outfit post. In fact, I think the last time I did, I was able to take some of the pictures outdoors. Then again, we’ve had such a mild winter so far that that doesn’t as far-off as it probably should have…
Anyway. For those who don’t know, I’m a volunteer coordinator at my work. Today was the Volunteer Expo at the Mall of America, and one of the volunteers that I nominated for an award actually won from his category! The kid is amazing, so I’m not at all surprised. I was part of the award ceremony in the rotunda, so I decided to dress up a little – but not overkill it – for the presentation.
Dress: Thrifted from Goodwill
Belt: Hijacked from another dress
Tights: Somewhere that is cool enough to make plus-sized tights…
Boots: Baretraps, DSW
Have I mentioned how much I love this dress? If you recall from my January wrap-up, I recently realized that the color olive actually looks really good on me. This dress is one of the key reasons I now know that. My best friend, Kate, and I went thrift shopping at the best Goodwill in existence and seriously scored. We both walked out with over 10 items for less than $70. This dress was one of my items. Almost two months later, I still get a mini high when I think about it. I just love where the dress hits my frame. In fact, the only negative about it is it wrinkles easily, so it requires some ironing – and I am NOT domestic. I don’t wear it often anyway, so it’s worth it in the end. Oh, and there isn’t a stain on my dress, that’s the light, and no, I don’t know why my face looks funny.
I also really love these boots. They aren’t new, but they’re probably my favorite shoe. They’re my first wide-calf boot, and it makes such a world of difference. They’re insanely comfortable and casual, but dressy enough to pull off with skirts or dresses. Love, love, love.

Why did I finally decide to do an outfit post? Well, beyond caving to the immense pressures of a fabulous coworker, I actually really liked the way my hair looked today. Whenever my hair decides to cooperate, I know it’s a outfit post day. Of course, it doesn’t come across incredibly clear in these pictures, but hopefully it gives you an idea. I recently got it cut into a slanted bob, which I rather like. Perhaps sometime I’ll post a view of that.
What did you do today, fancy pants?
